Booking and the Agreement between you, the Guest, and me, the Owner

Please read this. Here I explain how to book a holiday in the Log Cabin.

Should you wish to book a holiday in The Log Cabin please email me an enquiry using the ‘Contact Us’ link on this website.

I will reply promptly and will answer any questions you have about the accommodation. If you prefer to discuss your requirements over the phone, email me your phone number and when is the best time to call. When you wish to book your holiday send me an email and I will reply confirming your dates and the fee. I will then send you my bank details: I prefer to receive funds using a BACS transfer to my account. I will acknowledge receipt of the transfer when the funds clear with confirmation of your booking. I will accept a cheque but I cannot confirm your booking until the cheque has cleared. This will probably take a week.

I must have your contact details, dates and agreements confirmed by email to make sure I have everything recorded correctly and so I can contact you if unforeseen events take charge.

A 25% deposit of the rental fee will secure the booking if made more than 6 months before the start date. I will refund this deposit if you choose to cancel your booking more than six months before the start of your stay and your booking will be annulled.

A further 25% will be due at 6 months. Therefore a booking made within 6 months of the start date requires a 50% of the rental fee deposit.

The rental fee total plus extras for your dogs and a £100 refundable security deposit is due 6 weeks prior to the holiday. I will email you directions and instructions at this point so you can make your travel arrangements.

Should you not meet this payment, I will allow two weeks grace after which I will change the booking calendar to 'available' and will accept bookings in place of yours. Should this happen, I may refund a portion of your fee. If at any time prior to an alternative booking being confirmed, you complete the required payment in full, your booking will be reinstated.

If you, at any time within 6 months of your stay, cancel your holiday I will only refund the deposit if I am able to re-let the property for that period. It may be worthwhile taking cancellation insurance.

I will refund the security deposit less any agreed breakages and expenses via BACS transfer within 7 days of your departure unless there is a problem to resolve.

If at anytime during the booking process things don't go as you would wish, email or phone me so that we can solve the problem.

Notes on prices

I do not charge a heating supplement in winter. The quoted price is all you pay.

Dogs are £25 for the first and an additional £10 for any others. Please bring all the bedding, food and other bits and pieces your animal needs. The Log Cabin is surrounded by fields with farm livestock in them, make sure your dog is under your control. Please clean up after them.

We supply freshly laundered bedlinen, and a bath and hand towel for each person. Hand soap and toilet tissue are placed in the bathroom. We do not supply beach towels, you must bring your own. If your holiday is longer than 10 days, at the halfway point, we will offer a change of towels and, if you wish, a change of bed linen. There will be some washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and a sponge and disposable 'J' type cloth in the kitchen. We also put a tea towel and an oven cloth beside the cooker, and rubbish sacks with the kitchen waste bin. These 'consumables' are there to help you get settled in, you may have to top up during your holiday depending on your usage.

We expect you to leave the Log Cabin and its grounds in a tidy and reasonably clean condition. If you choose to leave it in a mess, requiring substantial extra cleaning in addition to our usual care, I will make a charge against the deposit to cover the expense.

Changeover day

Change over day is Friday, departing before 10am, arriving after 3pm. The idea is to avoid the heavy traffic travelling to and from the Southwest on Saturdays and Sundays, particularly during the summer. Shorter breaks (minimum 3 nights) can be taken outside the summer holidays. Email to see how we can make arrangements to best suit your requirements.

Short Breaks

The Log Cabin is available for short breaks throughout the year except the main summer holiday season, which is roughly middle of July to the begining of September. Short breaks are priced in relation to the weekly rate by arrangement. The minimum stay is three days, please email to enquire about price and availablity.
